Josh got a pop gun in his stocking. He loves it! He likes to play with it when he is watching a video.

O Christmas Tree
Here is our Christmas tree. Or least we thought it was until we unwrapped it.
It is the Doane/Rose Family tradition to cut our Christmas trees each year. We went to the tree farm to cut our trees. Each family picked their tree and then we had them shaken and wrapped and then placed in my Dad's truck. Tim must have grabbed the wrong one when it was time to go home. When we got home we placed it in the tree stand and it was too tall. Tim had to cut some of the trunk off. We tried again and it was still too tall. As you can see in the pic it is bent over a little. Then we unwrapped it and found that it was quite wide too. Then I called my parents to inquire if they had been switched. Theirs was still wrapped. A few minutes later they called back to say that indeed they had been switched. We decided to keep the trees where they were. So this year we decorated Grampy and Grammie's tree and they decorated ours. I look forward to seeing our tree decorated.

Megan's Thanksgiving Feast
Megan participated in a Thanksgiving feast at school. They assembled the 7 kindergarten classes in the gym. Each class prepared a Thanksgiving song to preform. Each class provided something for the feast. Megan's class made corn muffins. After they enjoyed the Thanksgiving feast, all the classes did an Indian dance around the gym.Tuesday, November 25, 2008

Fun in the snow

These pics were taken on November 16. That was the first time that Josh played in the snow this year. He forgot what snow was. The snow that day was good for packing snowballs. We had a snowball fight and Josh kept yelling "Snow Fight! Snow Fight!"
I wasn't able to take too many pictures that day because my camera was getting too wet!

Braces
Callie got her braces today. She has four on her top front teeth. She picked blue and pink. She did very well! She thought that is was going to be very painful. She was surprised at how smooth it went. I was going to take her picture and she said that she would make a grumpy face. She will proudly show you if you ask though.

Christmas Music
On the way home on Friday night, Tim found Christmas music on the radio. He is VERY aware that I do not wish to listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. He has been playing it all weekend whenever he can.
I have found that they are starting to play the Christmas music earlier and earlier each year. I don't think I have ever heard it played on Halloween though. I love Christmas music, but I love the quote of my mother-law says. "Be thankful before you ask."

New Road
We have the first layer of road down in front of our house. They were not able to do the whole road today due to the rain. The rest of the project may be delayed until the rain lets up and there is a lot of rain in the forecast.

Megan's Field Trip

Today was Megan's first Kindergarten field trip. We went to an apple orchard that we thought was in Otsego and turned out to be in Oshtemo which is quite a bit farther away. The bus ride went better then expected for a bus full of 5 and 6 year olds.
We had lunch, played games, went on a hay ride, and toured the cider mill. We had cider and donuts before we left. As you can see in the picture, Megan really enjoyed hers. When we returned to school, there was a field of pumpkins waiting for the students. Megan thought that her teacher put them there. I told her that her teacher was on the bus with us the whole time, and it is still a mystery.

The House is Shaking
Our house has been shaking for the last 3 days and is getting progressivly worse. I can feel the floor rumble and the walls shaking. I am surprised pictures have not fallen off the walls yet. It is hard to type this because my keyboard is vibrating. The crews are lowering the level of our road to prepare for the new road. The roller is one of the smaller pieces of equipment that they are using, though it is the loudest and most annoying. We have heard rumors that they may lay the road mid next week. I am read for this project to be over.

No more gum!
Twenty minutes before bedtime, Megan decided to play with her sugar free gum. She had a web of gum in her hand and somehow managed to spread it to her eyebrow, chin, pajamas, foot and her Mom's arm. I tried to wash it off with soap and water, but that does not work. With the help of her Grandma Doane and a computer, we found that peanut butter will do the trick. I opened a jar of peanut butter and found that it was crunchy PB I had chosen. I gave Megan a facial of PB and it did the trick.
